Max West was raised in Collinsville, Oklahoma, by a family of public school teachers and coaches. That upbringing taught him the value of civic duty, a relentless work ethic, and the effective communication of complicated issues—values Max applies to his practice every day.

Max began his career litigating on behalf of injured plaintiffs, as well as defending local municipalities, insurance carriers, and rural electric cooperatives. Before joining MHZ, Max’s practice was primarily first- and third-party insurance defense, complex tort litigation, commercial litigation, and product liability litigation.

Those years on the defense side were an education, as Max learned how claims are actually valued by adjusters and defense counsel, which cases insurers fight and which ones they pay, what strategies defense lawyers use to defend against a lawsuit, and where a plaintiff's case is most likely to be attacked. Now, Max uses that experience to provide exceptional representation to individuals and families devastated by catastrophic injury and wrongful death in cases involving trucking and motor vehicle collisions, defective products, nursing home neglect and abuse, and insurance bad faith.

Max earned his law degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law. In law school, Max was a Hatton W. Sumners Scholar, a member of the ABA Appellate Advocacy Team and the Order of Barristers, and the recipient of the Judge Dwain Box Award for Outstanding Oral Advocacy. Max is licensed in Oklahoma and Kansas.

Away from the office, Max enjoys golfing, traveling, and supporting the Oklahoma City Thunder. He and his wife, Leilah West, also an attorney in Oklahoma City, live in the historic Mesta Park neighborhood.
