{"id":1694,"date":"2014-01-14T19:50:09","date_gmt":"2014-01-14T19:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mapleslawokc.com\/blog\/?p=1694"},"modified":"2014-01-14T19:50:09","modified_gmt":"2014-01-14T19:50:09","slug":"nursing-home-safety-advocates-demand-state-officials-resign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mapleslawokc.com\/blog\/nursing-home-neglect-abuse\/nursing-home-safety-advocates-demand-state-officials-resign\/","title":{"rendered":"Nursing Home Safety Advocates Demand State Officials Resign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Perfect Cause, one of Oklahoma\u2019s primary advocate groups for the safety of nursing home residents is demanding the resignation of seven of the state\u2019s top officials, according to a report by <em>KFOR<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>On January 8, associates with A Perfect Cause held a private meeting with the governor\u2019s office to discuss the alleged misconduct and consequent termination or resignation of seven state officials with the Oklahoma Department of Health and Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS). This includes the state health commissioner and the director of the DHS.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re moving toward sweeping reform in Oklahoma,\u201d said the founder of A Perfect Cause. \u201cToo many people are suffering in our nursing homes and that has got to stop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also stated that the officials failed to enforce nursing home safety standards, putting the lives of residents at risk and that they didn\u2019t adequately monitor nursing homes with records of wrongful actions. Instead, they allegedly let the nursing homes conduct their own investigations, which were far from unbiased.<\/p>\n<p>Although the governor\u2019s office doesn\u2019t have the power to fire the seven officials, they have vowed to take their own measures to improve the quality of nursing homes in Oklahoma.
