Lisa Hudson, MS RN graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 1979 with a Bachelors’ of Science in Nursing. In 2005, Ms. Hudson obtained her Masters in Science with an emphasis on Nursing Education from Southern Nazarene University and successfully defended her Capstone project entitled “A study of patient falls in a long term care environment”. Lisa was inducted to Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society of Nursing, following her graduation and has served on the board of the Beta Delta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, as well as, on many committees focusing on nursing excellence.
Lisa’s passion for nursing excellence has spanned a 31 year career which includes being named the first Nurse of the Year at Integris Baptist Medical Center in 1990. She was featured in the American Journal of Nursing in November of the same year as one of 13 winners across the nation for National Nurse of the Year. In this article, Lisa was recognized for her innovations and writings in regards to nursing assessment of pre-operative patients.
Lisa’s experience in clinical nursing includes nursing management, intensive care, medical surgical nursing, care and consulting in regards to the long term resident, and home health care. Lisa’s contribution to Nursing now involves teaching nursing students as an adjunct professor in traditional and adult studies programs.
In 2000, Lisa founded her own company, Total LegalNurse Consultants, LLC. This entrepreneurship led to the opportunity for Lisa to speak nationwide on issues involving nursing care to include pressure ulcer prevention and treatment, fall prediction and prevention, and legal issues in nursing. At this same time, Lisa began working with attorneys in litigation of cases involving nursing negligence and medical malpractice. She continues her work today in providing legal nurse consultation and critical focus of nursing issues for successful outcomes in these types of cases. Lisa has testified as a nurse expert in many cases across Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas involving issues with nursing standards of care, pressure ulcers, and fall prediction and prevention in efforts to obtain successful outcomes for her clients and patients.
In this new arena of Legal Nursing, Lisa continues to impact the nursing profession in her work with both plaintiff and defense attorneys in an endeavor to improve nursing care from a different perspective.Experience:
